Garage Conversion & Extension Project

From a detached double garage to a contemporary one bedroom luxury apartment; we had the great pleasure of designing and project managing this exciting project, for a young professional couple. Follow our journey throughout the building work to the transformation of a fun and vibrant apartment.

RENOVATION

Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac is a 1970’s detached bungalow with a detached double garage. The brief was to convert the double garage and extend out at the rear to accommodate a spacious and light filled one bedroom apartment. The interior design should be fun, contemporary and include yellow and blue tones also geometric elements. The occupants are a young professional couple in their 20’s

HALLWAY

This was originally the outside path, now attached to the main bungalow. The new hallway is flooded with light from the velux window; pops of colour in the form of wall pictures, accessories and a gorgeous teal and brass pendant light. Practical Karndean flooring was chosen throughout the apartment to create texture and a feel of spaciousness.

MASTER BEDROOM WITH WALK IN WARDROBE

The double garage was converted to the spacious double bedroom, walk –in – wardrobe and bathroom. As per the client brief pops of yellow and blue were included in the form of accessories and soft furnishings. A large dressing table is housed in an area just off the main sleeping area. Roman blinds in grey and edged in blue adorn the large bay window (by Lynne Kelly Curtains and blinds). Perfect fit blinds were also added to control the light. For a final pop of colour and added interest a stunning canvas by Mineheart was hung.

BATHROOM

For added natural light, a sun tunnel was created in the bath/shower area and to complete the design large grey tiles with marble effect porcelain tiles in the niche’s were used. The triangle of yellow and potted plants generates interest and contemporary design.

OPEN PLAN LIVING, DINING, KITCHEN AND STUDY AREAS

To complete the brief of a light and airy space, four velux windows were installed in the high ceiling area and double French doors opened onto the beautiful garden.

The white kitchen blended seamlessly into the white walls with subtle marble effect work tops. To create warmth and interest a mixture of textures such as bamboo, linen, natural marble and velvet were used. Pops of colour for warmth, fun and interest in the form of wall art, area rug, roller blind and a bold yellow wall section were included in the design. The overall interior design for the apartment is contemporary, fun, light filled and vibrant. A touch of greenery in the form of potted plants and fresh flowers add the finishing touch.

OUTSIDE AREA

A patio area and mature garden full of colourful plants and flowers continue the vibrant theme. A bright pop of orange in the form of patio chairs and colourful garden ornaments and potted flowers exude an air of beauty and fun
