COOL NATURAL FIBRES
Fabrics made from natural fibres tend to be the most breathable; they assist in keeping you cool and dry throughout the summer months. In comparison synthetic fabrics don’t allow the same degree of ventilation.
LINEN
Linen is a great choice for bedding. Linen has a wonderful breathability quality and also has a natural cooling effect. This fibre is synonymous with warm weather and surprisingly a great choice for winter too. Linen has two great qualities; it preserves your body heat and when it’s hot, excess heat dissipates through loose fibres, which regulates your body temperature.
Forget about high thread counts as sheets with a very high thread could restrict how air flows underneath the sheets, resulting in a restless night’s sleep. Consider bedding set with looser fibres, such as linen to help regulate your body temperature.
Linen is made from the flax plant and is naturally anti-allergenic and bacteria-resistant.

COTTON
Another great option is cotton. Percale weave or jersey sheet both provide great air circulation. Bamboo and silk also have temperature-regulating and breathable properties.

DUVET
Swap your duvet for a lower tog rating for the summer months. A good quality 4.5 tog, down or luxury microfibre quilt is perfect. Remove your blankets and store them in breathable cotton storage bags or rolled up in cotton sheets. Non-breathable bags can cause mildew to form.

WASHING YOUR LINEN
Dust mites prefer warmer temperatures, so try to wash your linen more frequently than you would in the cooler months. Wash all bedding not encased in barrier covers weekly at a dust mite squashing 60 degrees Celsius, and air dry when possible to reduce static cling.
